INTERNET COUNSELING

What is Internet counseling?
While very different from face-to-face counseling, it is possible to have a successful interchange through Internet counseling. Internet counseling is an effective alternative for people who are may live in areas where counseling is hard to access, for those who have difficulty getting out, for those who find it difficult to schedule regular appointment, or for those who wish a higher degree of privacy. There are two options if you choose this alternative, email and chat.

Email:
If you choose this option, correspondence is conducted through a 128-bit encryption program to maximize confidentiality. In order for this to work, we both must have the same program. I use a program called PyroText 2.0, which can be downloaded at www.zdnet.com. It is a free program and takes just minutes to download. I will reply to your question or issue within 24 hours. Internet counseling is not covered by insurance, but you are billed for the time I spend researching and composing my answer. This means if I spend 15 minutes on my reply, you will billed $16.25, if I spend 30 minutes, your charge will be $32.50. I ask that you pay for the fee for the entire hour, and I will refund your overpayment.

Chat:
If you choose this option, we will schedule a time that is convenient for both of us. I use habiChat Messenger 1.8, as the chat vehicle, and it would be necessary for you to download this program. It can be downloaded at www.zdnet.com. This program is protected by a 128 bit-encryption program that protects our communication, however due to the nature of the Internet, confidentiality can not be guaranteed. Chat is very similar to a face-to-face session, therefore you will be charged the full fee.
